Bob Leydon (MARLA)

Bob Leydon let his first student house in 1987 and as a portfolio landlord is also owner of Leydon Lettings Agency.

His vision was to provide students with quality housing, banishing the notion that student accommodation could be inferior because each house was “just for students”.

Using his experience in construction and lettings, Bob sought to raise standards by providing students with double kitchens, double beds, en-suites, extra bedroom sockets, additional safety features and more.

Ultimately students become professionals who want somewhere to live, so he established a separate arm – Leydon Lettings accommodation for professionals.

With a desire to exchange knowledge and lobby authorities, Bob set up the Canterbury Landlord’s Forum. He continues to aspire to excellence.

He holds NFOPP Level 3 Technical Award in Residential Property Lettings and Management and is a member of ARLA, SLA, RLA, TPO, Safe Agent (S4887) UKALA & NLA.

Financial Controller and Photographer
Nina Carrington (MARLA)

Responsibilities:  Accounts • Implementation of New Systems • Lettings Advice

Interests:  Reading • Writing • Photography

Nina was welcomed to Team Leydon in 2004 and has been one of the key people in the development of the business.

Bringing out the homeliness of individual bedrooms when photographing is what Nina loves to do. She does this so that students can see that the empty room that they move into can become a little haven and a place that they can call home!

When asked what she liked about working with Leydon Lettings, Nina responded: “Bob Leydon is one of the most honest people I’ve ever met and it’s great to be able to work in an environment where this is prized.  The business is run with attention to the needs of our customers and continually strives to find ways of doing this even better.

We are careful to ensure that safety is rigorously implemented which means we can rest easy in the knowledge that our tenants are safe.

Such care is something I can feel proud to be a part of.”

Nina holds NFOPP Level 3 Technical Award in Residential Property Lettings and Management, is an ARLA member and was a finalist for the NLA Green Property Woman of the Year Award 2012.

Louise Dowle

Louise was welcomed to Team Leydon in 2013 and has now worked in the lettings industry for over a decade; gaining a wealth of experience and knowledge in the process!

Finding her role very satisfying and enjoyable, Louise likes helping students throughout the reservation process; from viewings, to the end of the tenancy. No two days are ever the same for Louise – which she likes – as she gets to meet a variety of people.

When asked what she liked about working with Leydon Lettings, Louise responded: “they offer a very honest and trust worthy service to students and landlord’s alike and we are keen to grow”.

Marketing Manager
Jacob Nicholson

Jacob overseas the marketing strategy for Leydon Lettings, ensuring the business becomes a familiar brand for students and professional searching for accommodation. Working closely with the Team, Jacob helps maximise the potential for finding suitable tenants for suitable properties.

Having graduated with a degree in History from King’s College London in 2016, Jacob soon found that Leydon Lettings provided an opportunity to work for a business in a City he has lived in for nearly 24 years and has a positive contribution towards raising the standard of the lettings industry.

Senior Lettings Coordinator
Laura Smith

Responsibilities:  Viewing Enquiries • Landlord Negotiation • Lettings Administration

Interests:  Theatre • Time with Friends and Family


Laura was welcomed to Team Leydon in 2014 and has had several years of experience working in the student sector.

Thoroughly enjoying the balance of work in the office and being out on viewings allows Laura to immerse herself in different environments and work closely with students. Laura feels that her role has many rewards as she works hard to ensure all Leydon tenants are happy from their first viewing until they vacate at the end of their tenancy.

When asked what she liked about working with Leydon Lettings, Laura’s response was that she: “believe[‘s] that as an independent company, Leydon Lettings has the ability to focus solely on tenants needs and ensure they have an enjoyable experience with us”.

Danny joined Team Leydon in 2013 whilst on a ‘year in industry’ from Bournemouth University.

Being a recent graduate, Danny enjoys the student environment and proposing new concepts and designs to make the company more approachable and relatable to students. Whether it’s puns, designs, adverts, or general user experience, Danny always puts his target audience first.

When asked what he liked about working with Leydon Lettings, Danny’s response was that he liked: “the sheer dedication and enthusiasm of everyone on the team. The passion that Bob has for renting exceptional student property in Canterbury and the continuous effort he puts in to learning is inspiring. Constantly striving for the safest houses and knowledge in the rental sector, Bob’s and indeed, Leydon Lettings knowledge is second to none and this enthusiasm and passion is definitely reflected through Team Leydon.”
