  • Established via the Housing Act 2004
  • The Statutory instrument governs the rules for managing HMOs in England.
  • Safety rules not previously required became a legal requirement.
  • HMOs require electric safety certificates (not formerly required) other than to evince compliance.  Likewise fire safety certification).
